    <title>An independent technology assessmentfor a future aeronautical communication system based on potential systems like B-VHF</title>

    <description>&lt;i&gt;Digital Avionics Systems Conference, 2007. DASC '07. IEEE/AIAA 26th (2007), pp. 4.D.6-1-4.D.6-12.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Air traffic management (ATM) system heavily relies upon air-ground communications. The frequency band currently used for air-ground communications (117.975 -137.000 MHz) is becoming congested. In some parts of Europe, it is extremely difficult to find a frequency to allow a new assignment to be made. This paper summarizes the communications services of current ATM systems as well as their basic operational concepts. Moreover, a comparison of different spectrum ranges and communication mechanisms used in physical and data link layers of aeronautical technologies was performed. Finally, the paper provides a comparison of several most promising technologies (LDL, B-VHF and P34) for a future aeronautical system.</description>

    <description>&lt;i&gt;Vehicular Technology Conference, 1987. 37th IEEE, Vol. 37 (1987), pp. 90-97.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Although there is a variety of system design proposals for aeronautical satellite communications, only a few field trials have been accomplished to investigate the behaviour of the aeronautical satellite transmission channel. The German Aerospace Research Establishment (DFVLR) finished in May 86 an extensive test program to provide necessary information for a system design. Over one thousand minutes of useable test signals could be recorded. With these recordings a detailed statistical evaluation had been performed.</description>

In particular, mobile-IP will play a major role in the Advanced Aeronautic Transportation Technology (AATT), the Weather Information Communication (WINCOMM), and the Small Aircraft Transportation System (SATS) aeronautics programs. This paper describes mobile-IP and mobile routers - in particular, the features, capabilities, and initial performance of the mobile router are presented. The application of mobile-router technology to NASA's space and aeronautics programs is also discussed</description>
