X Abstract

This paper presents an efficient symbol timing synchronization algorithm for an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system that is adapted to IEEE 802.16d standard. This efficient algorithm is based on the preamble structure defined in IEEE 802.16d. The preamble's symmetrical structure is exploited to reduce computational complexity. The useful signal can be distinguished from others according to the receipt of the long preamble, and the beginning of the signals can be found. The results of simulation show that the timing will be more accurate at very low signal-to-noise ratios.

CiteULike organises scholarly (or academic) papers or literature and provides bibliographic (which means it makes bibliographies) for universities and higher education establishments. It helps undergraduates and postgraduates. People studying for PhDs or in postdoctoral (postdoc) positions. The service is similar in scope to EndNote or RefWorks or any other reference manager like BibTeX, but it is a social bookmarking service for scientists and humanities researchers.
