X Abstract

Combining previously proposed relationship describing the density-dependent mean polarizability with the Newton-Drude formula and Lorentz-Lorenz equation, two relations were obtained to study of the temperature dependence of refractive index of glasses. These relations were used to study the temperature-dependent refractive index of silica glass for different wavelengths. The validity of the Newton-Drude equation is discussed in terms of an energy balance between the electric potential energy of the incident light and the Hamilton function of the induced oscillators.

CiteULike organises scholarly (or academic) papers or literature and provides bibliographic (which means it makes bibliographies) for universities and higher education establishments. It helps undergraduates and postgraduates. People studying for PhDs or in postdoctoral (postdoc) positions. The service is similar in scope to EndNote or RefWorks or any other reference manager like BibTeX, but it is a social bookmarking service for scientists and humanities researchers.
